Field Trip to Historic Village in Waco

Today the 8th Graders took a field trip to the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village near Baylor University in Waco.

Assignments for Wednesday

1. Read Ch. 9 & 10 of The Outsiders.
2. Read these sections on the 1970s from the Online History Textbook (Clicky clicky.)

• Triangular Diplomacy: U.S., USSR, and China
• Undoing a President
• The Sickened Economy

Visit to Holy Trinity Catholic High School

Today the 8th Graders visited Holy Trinity Catholic High School, leaving their teachers and classmates bereft of their presence. We look forward to their soon return.

Assignments

For Wednesday -

1. Finish analyzing Statistics and the New Deal in preparation for the ND Debate (if you didn't turn them in on Monday)
2. Debate over the question, "Was the New Deal effective in dealing with the Great Depression.

CAC Science Fun + "Bartleby" Discussion

Today the Eighthies:

• Went to the CAC to learn some science from a pseudoscientific actor/magician
• Enjoyed viewing the artworks of former CCS teacher Debbie Smith Barnes and Ted Barnes
• Returned in time to sit in on the 6th/7th discussion of "Bartleby the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street"
